Some cool Ways to Make a Real Shadows For Computer Images or Animation.
A great computer algorithm, Ohio State algorithms, is developed by the engineers of Ohio University. This algorithm models the passing of light through 3-D translucent objects, such as water, smoke, clouds etc, and the formation of a shadow that really resembles the natural shadow. This algorithm does not require much computer memory to create these shadows.
This software algorithm is a unique algorithm as it does not ignore the important natural shadow making factors like the fading of light after passing through some translucent object.
This algorithm is tested for different complex objects by creating their shadows and the results were excellent. The tested objects were cloud, bonsai tree and a group of robots etc.
This work done by Zhang is a superb job and can be used to create the high quality animated movies by Hollywood. The main characteristics of this work are accuracy, fast and low memory requirements.
The Ohio State algorithms can be used effectively in the Hollywood animation section. It can also be used in the software that can simulate the surgical procedures. It can also help the scientists to visualize the complex data. Another important application of this technique is in the climate modeling where we can estimate that how much radiation (solar) is reached to the surface of earth under some specific conditions of temperature, velocity of wind and cloud’s moisture density.
